10 Best Restaurants on Tacoma’s 6th Ave
Located in the heart of Tacoma, 6th Avenue is a main drag and a hub of great shops and restaurants. We’ve highlighted 10 spots to grab a bite as you roll down this iconic road.
Primo Grill is a self-described “colorful eatery with an open kitchen serving Mediterranean steaks, pastas, and applewood-fired pizzas.” What they don’t mention is that everything on their menu is top notch not only in flavor, but in presentation (chilled salad plates - ohlala!). We love that this dinner restaurant is open til 9 most nights, and 10pm on the weekends. We love their tagliatelle pasta, and their pork chop!
A pleasingly authentic Vietnamese restaurant and bar, this place is always busy and for good reason! We love the centralized location, as well as the great food, be sure to try the Pho, the Bahn Mi, or the vermicelli noodle bowl with pork! One of our favorite aspects of La Ca is how late they are open, check them out 11am-12pm on weeknights, and til 2am on weekends! The staff is friendly and if the parking lot is full you can easily find spots on the surrounding side streets.
One of my favorite Thai restaurants in Tacoma, this cozy restaurant has it all. The decorations are adorable and it almost feels like you’re stepping into a different world when you cross the threshold! Their food is delicious, I love their fresh rolls, pineapple fried rice, and basically every curry. Be sure to check out their season menu as well! Be sure to get in there early as they close at 8pm on weekdays or 8:30pm Fri/Sat/Sun.
This fine dining restaurant is a full-on vibe! With farm-to-table food, an amazing wine selection, and friendly staff at the ready, this is an experience you must not miss. We recommend taking a few friends and ordering multiple small plates & a few entrees to share because you are going to want to try it all. We love the gnocchi Mac & cheese, the braised elk and the hazelnut fed pork, which might change your life. Don’t forget to leave some room for dessert as well. Open 5-9pm most nights.
Probably the healthiest option on this list, Grity City is a quick stop salad shop with fresh ingredients and an abundance of choices. In addition to salads they have grain bowls, soups and protein packs at the ready. This restaurant caters to those with special tastes with offerings such as gluten-free, paleo, keto etc. You can build your own, or take our recommendation - the BBQ Chicken Salad. Open 10am-7pm weekdays, 11-6pm on weekends.
Goofy Goose Burgers & Teriyaki
On the slightly opposite spectrum, you’ve got the Goofy Goose! Delicious, but not quite as healthy, there is nothing I like more than the surprising combo of a burger and some pot stickers. They have a large menu, so we love this spot for a group dinner where you don’t have to pick just one food group! Sesame chicken or milkshakes, they’ve got it all (Oreo milkshakes for the win)! With convenient parking and an online ordering system for a quick meal, check this place out 11am-9:45pm during the week, 11:45pm on weekends!
If you’ve never eaten Loco Moco, this restaurant must be your next stop! Da Tiki Hut offers a wide array of savory Hawaiian inspired plates filled with Kalua Pig, marinated beef short ribs, burgers and more. Don’t sleep on their sides either! Delicious food combined with quick services makes this place a gem on 6th Ave for late lunch or dinner. Closed on Mondays, open til 9pm every other night.
If you’re having a chat with a group of people from Tacoma, you will definitely run into one of them that adamantly believes the The Cloverleaf has Tacoma’s Best Pizza. A Tacoma staple, this spot has been located on in Tacoma since 1950 and serves not only pizzas, but salads, sandwiches and even burgers. We love a classic pepperoni, thin crust, but you’ve got options like the Breakfast Pizza with bacon and scrambled egg on top to spice up your life! You can always build your own, and be sure to end with a root beer float. Stop in weekdays 10am-10pm, weekends 11am-11pm.
At the far end of 6th Ave, not to far from Titlow Beach, this restaurant offers a wonderful menu of Southeast Asian food, with a focus on Thai options. The “fusion” aspect of their name plays out in their dishes, where they will mix ingredients in a wonderful combination that you didn’t know you wanted. Green curry - but paired with pasta?? Yes please! We also love that they have healthy options such as cauliflower fried “rice", delicious with some panang curry.
Ok while one might not technically think of MSM as a restaurant, we had to put it on the list as it is absolutely delicious! Tacomans love to debate over which sandwich is better - the Deli Club, or Mike’s Deluxe (deli club, obviously…). We recommend you bring a friend and try both, or if you’re feeling wild, get their French Dip! Be prepared for a wait, or try calling your order in ahead IF you can get past their busy signal. With lots of parking (and don’t forget their famous cookies) this spot is a Tacoma favorite, open 10am-7pm every day of the week.
