Best Places for Pickleball in Tacoma, WA

INDOOR:

  1. The Drop - The Drop Pickleball Club has the best indoor courts  to play pickleball in Tacoma, WA. There are 8 hard courts; 1 outdoor and 7 indoor. These are designated pickleball courts with permanent lines and nets. The Drop is consistently busy, but reservations are available and encouraged. See schedule on their website to plan a visit. Price: Membership or $12 drop-in fee 

  2. The Star Center - There are 8 outdoor hard courts. The lines are permanent, but you'll need to bring your own net. They ALSO have indoor options, let me introduce you to the Grit City Gherkins Pickleball Club, for $7 a month or a $65 annual fee, you can gain access to Star Centers beautiful indoor courts. Open as early as 6am Mon-Fr, 9am on Saturdays and 10am on Sundays. Price for indoor: $7/mo. Price for outdoor: Free

  3. The YMCA - Tacoma Center YMCA is another great indoor option to play pickleball in Tacoma, WA. There are 2 indoor hard courts. The lines are permanent, with portable nets available for use. Open 5am to 9:30pm Monday-Fri, 7am - 6pm Saturdays, and 8am - 4pm on Sundays. Price:  Membership required (rates vary)

  4. Peoples Community Center - People's Community Center is one of the most popular places to play pickleball in Tacoma, WA. There are 3 indoor hard courts. The lines are permanent, and portable nets are available. If courts are full there is a ball machine you can use to improve your game. Open from 7am - 8pm weekdays and 9am - 5pm on the weekend. Price: $3

  5. Eastside Community Center - Eastside Community Center is one of the most popular places to play pickleball in Tacoma, WA. There are 2 indoor hard courts with permanent lines, and portable nets provided. Open 7am - 9pm weekdays. 9am - 5pm on the weekend. Price: $3


OUTDOOR: 

  1. Fircrest Tennis courts - This popular park is a great place to practice your skills. You will typically find a few people already playing, no matter what day of the week it is. Don’t forget your net. The city has painted a pickle ball court at either end of the tennis courts for maximum use. 

  2. Vassault park Tennis courts - If you’ve driven by Vaussalt park in the morning you have most likely seen some of Tacoma's finest pickleballers. This is a great location to play, and if you are wanting to learn you can even join the pick-up game that happens every other morning.

  3. Titlow Beach park tennis courts - We love Titlow Park, these are the courts you go to when all the others are full. Courts are empty because you will find they are not in the best condition. Be prepared for some grass in the cracks, and dirt. On the bright side, you are right on the water, with spectacular views of the Narrows bridge and walking distance from the Beach Tavern and Pier 23.

  4. Jefferson Park Tennis Courts - Centrally located off Tacoma’s 6th Avenue, this park has 3 tennis courts, two of which are painted for pickleball. A very popular park, be prepared to meet new friends and pickleballers alike.

  5. Eastside Community Center - Eastside Community Center is  a very popular place to play pickleball, year-round,  in Tacoma, WA. There are 2 indoor hard courts. The lines are permanent, and nets are available. A one-time fee is required to play, however.

  6. Stuart Heights Park - Stewart Heights Park is one of the most popular places to play pickleball in Tacoma, WA. There are 4 outdoor, hard courts. The lines are overlaid on a tennis court, so the nets may be a little taller than on a normal pickleball court. 

  7. Sprinker Recreation Center - Sprinker Recreation Center is a place to play pickleball in Tacoma, WA. There are 4 outdoor concrete courts. The lines are permanent, but you'll need to bring your own net.
