10 Local Tacoma Businesses We Love to Support

In this blog post we will highlight some local Tacoma businesses that are the best at what they do! Don’t take our word for it, try them out for yourself!

1. University Place Radiator & Auto Shop:

It has taken me years to find a mechanic that I trust, and I’m happy to report that I’ve finally found them! UP Auto Shop has been around for a long time, and is family owned. They are a small mom & pop shop, that offers excellent service including good communication and a quick turnaround. They are happy to answer questions and are always honest and priced right.

2. Gather Juice Co:

Gather has everything that one could want in a juice shop! Cold-pressed juices, smoothies, and of course, snacks! Their avocado toast is absolutely to die for, and pairs well with any of their juices. They are conveniently located on 6th Ave in the heart of Tacoma, and open daily. The inside of the shop has a pleasing aesthetic, and friendly staff as well!

3. Waterland Performance:

After being seen by four different physical therapists (yes, four!), I was finally recommended by a friend to visit the PTs at Waterland Performance. Instead of only looking at one specific area of the body, the physical therapists at Waterland are able to do a full body inspection, because sometimes the areas with pain are simply a symptom of a different area not being used correctly (what a wild thought!). After years of pain and frustration, I was healed by visiting this locally owned business, and have never been so happy!

4. Thrive Esthetics:

Thrive is a small scale spa, owned and operated by a Tacoma local. They specialize in brows and facials and I promise you will leave here feeling like a goddess. Located in downtown Tacoma, this studio is immaculate, and adorable. By appointment only, their online booking system is easy to use, and the price is right. My brows have never looked so good, and I can’t recommend Thrive enough!

5. Tuladhara Yoga Studio:

Tuladhara has three locations one in Gig Harbor, one in Lakewood, and TacOMa Yoga on Proctor in Tacoma’s North End. This yoga studio has it all including amazing teachers, lots of different types of yoga, and a large assortment of class times. All of the studios are beautiful and unique in their own way.

6. Vie Athletics:

Vie Athletics originally began as a small women’s gym in Puyallup, and has since expanded to locations in Tacoma, University Place and Bonney Lake. The company is female owned and has coach-led small group fitness classes throughout the day. The design of the gyms are thoughtful and so cute, and they are very community focused. If you want some inspiration and creative workouts, try them out!

7. Lander Coffee:

The coziest coffee shop located in the Three Bridges District, Lander roasts their own beans and has the cutest aesthetic. There plenty of seating, as well as outlets if you need to plug in your laptop. They’ve got an assortment of treats and snacks, perfect to pair with your coffee.

8. Fernseed Plant Shop:

Located on South Tacoma Way, Fernseed is the cutest plant shop! They have a huge variety of plant species, as well as pots and cute tchotchkes that you didn’t know you needed. They can help you with plant health, and will pot your plants for you!

9. BirdDog Construction:

Newer to the Tacoma scene, BirdDog Construction has made a place for themselves in remodels, and ADU (accessory dwelling unit) conversions. Locally owned and operated, they are willing to take on almost every home project, big or small! They are creative in their design ideas and have a great work ethic.

10. The Healing Nook:

I am quite picky when it comes to a massage therapist. With having so many injuries in the past, I want a massage therapist who is knowledgeable of the musculature of the body, and also has an intuitive touch. I value good communication, and convenience. The Healing Nook has everything that you could want in a massage therapist, including convenient location, good pricing, quality massage, and a cute aesthetic. Love this studio!
